Pontianak - On April 1, 2022, a team from the Physics Department of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences at Tanjungpura University (FMIPA Untan) ventured into the field to observe the hilal, marking the beginning of the 1443 Hijri calendar month of Ramadan. This activity took place in Sengkubang Village, Mempawah Regency.
Using telescopes and other equipment, team members carefully observed the position and phase of the hilal. The purpose of this activity was to contribute to the community in determining the start of Ramadan using a scientific approach.
This is an example of how scientific knowledge can be useful in everyday life contexts, including determining the start of Ramadan.
