Pontianak, April 4, 2026 – The Geophysics Study Program, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Universitas Tanjungpura successfully held a public lecture entitled “Theory and Principles of Seismic Data Acquisition” on Saturday, April 4, 2026. The event was attended by geophysics students, laboratory staff and lecturers within FMIPA as part of efforts to enhance understanding in geophysical exploration, particularly seismic methods.
The lecture was delivered by Dr. Dadi Abdurrahman, S.T., M.T., who presented fundamental concepts of seismic waves, the working principles of seismic methods, and essential stages in field data acquisition. Participants also gained insights into proper data acquisition techniques to ensure high-quality data for further analysis.
During the session, the speaker emphasized the importance of strong theoretical understanding as the foundation for conducting seismic surveys. In addition, common challenges encountered in the field and strategies to minimize errors in the data acquisition process were discussed.
The participants showed great enthusiasm, especially during the discussion session, where students had the opportunity to ask questions related to the application of seismic methods in both industry and research.
Through this public lecture, students are expected to enhance their competencies and be better prepared for practical work and research in geophysics, particularly in seismic data acquisition and processing.
