Geophysics Study Program Of Tanjungpura University Ready To Face Reaccreditation By Lamsama

Pontianak, January 1, 2024 - The Geophysics Study Program (Prodi) at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA), Universitas Tanjungpura (Untan), is preparing for the re-accreditation process that will be conducted by the Independent Accreditation Institute for Natural Sciences and Formal Sciences (LAMSAMA). This preparation is a significant step for the Geophysics Study Program in its efforts to enhance the quality of education and strengthen the competitiveness of its graduates at both national and international levels.

The Head of the Geophysics Study Program, Dr. Yoga S. Putra, stated that the entire academic community has been working hard to prepare the various documents and requirements needed for the re-accreditation process. "We have conducted a thorough self-evaluation and updated various aspects of the curriculum and supporting educational facilities. Additionally, we have also made improvements in terms of research and community service," he said.

The re-accreditation process by LAMSAMA will encompass various aspects of evaluation, including the quality of the lecturers, curriculum, and facilities, as well as research and community service outcomes. Through this re-accreditation, the Geophysics Study Program hopes to achieve a better accreditation status than before.

Dr. Yoga also added that the Geophysics Study Program has engaged in numerous collaborations with various institutions, both domestically and internationally, to improve the quality of education and research. "We have several collaborations with prominent research institutions and universities both at home and abroad. This will certainly be an added value in the re-accreditation process," he added.

Students and alumni of the Geophysics Study Program have also participated in this preparation by providing input and support. They hope that with this re-accreditation, the Geophysics Study Program will become more recognized and acknowledged for its quality, thereby contributing more significantly to development in the fields of geophysics and disaster management.

In preparation for the re-accreditation, FMIPA Untan has also organized various workshops and training sessions to enhance the quality and competence of lecturers and teaching staff. This aims to ensure that all elements in the educational process in the Geophysics Study Program can provide the best for the students.

Not only from an academic standpoint but the improvement of supporting educational facilities such as laboratories and libraries has also become a primary focus in the re-accreditation preparation. Several laboratories have been updated with modern equipment and the latest technology to support student practical activities and research.

With all the preparations that have been made, the Geophysics Study Program FMIPA Universitas Tanjungpura is ready to face the re-accreditation by LAMSAMA. Success in this re-accreditation is expected to enhance the quality of education and bring significant benefits to the entire academic community and the broader society.
